If you have been to the Pacific Coast of and haven't stopped at El Capitan Marina and experienced the seafood specialties served by Dona Lesbia Cortez and her staff you really haven't experienced how good Guatemala can be.

My true friend Paco Maza and his wife Lesbia built a fantastic Marina and Restaurant, "El Capitan" in the 1990's and Paco is really the unsung hero of Sport Fishing in Guatemala.  Unfortunately a brain aneurism took him from his family and friends way too young.  Here are a few pictures of the Restaurant to take you down to the Tropical Ambiance of Aldea Buena Vista and the Canal of Chiquimulilla.

If you arrive by car you will see this entrance and

lots of local friends to greet you

With both fur and feathers to ad noise

color to a great atmosphere.

Everything isn't alive however

Like this over sized lobster that patrols the bar.

But your hard working waiting staff will bring some seafood dressed out in all its glory

It would be hard to beat this shrimp cocktail anywhere

but the house specialty is the Ceviche Mixto.  This is Guatemalan style, a bit different than made to the north but absolutely fantastic, a must try!

On the weekends on the coast even this little Rancho comes alive with music and dancing from the Guatemalan Spirit.

From the water these days only Pangas are docked in front of the marina

But the canal is still alive with life of the local variety.

The inlet looks forbidding, but Marina Pez Vela is only minutes away and offers a safe ingress to the ocean 365 days a year.
