This Striper didn't quite make 28" but if you were to measure around the bend in the tail it would have been a keeper, but I gave this tough bass the benifit of growing some more.

Carole and Tom Smarsh along with yours truly limit out on a wide open bite in the inlet between 7 and 8 am.

11/16/10

Bill Scull was fishing with Sonny Conover in the inlet after they got word of the hot bite.  They had 3 keepers in the boat when Bill drifted out of the rips and kept his line into the deep while he answered a phone call. This hungry 36# lunker bit and is the biggest fish Bill has managed out of the Absecon Inlet

2 days catch for Keith, Big Mike, Mike, and Brian

11/14/10

My Son Kevin came with me on a Bussman's Holiday and skunked me with this striper another keeper and one short.  All I got were three hits and misses

Chris kieker  with a family portrait on a windy say when I almost made the call not to go

11/13/10

The second day of a two day trip was a lot calmer and let me get out the camera with this early morning start in the inlet.

Stripers aren't all we catch but Keith Moore had his personal best with this 17# bass way in the back

there were plenty of bites and some good fights almost easy when the weather cooperates. Total for the day was five in the box and six shorts released.

11/10/10

Chris Kieker and the first day of hss two days.  The wind stayed down and the bass turned on when the flooding subsided.

nice sized fish carried the day.  Only a couple were too short to take home, but they will be bigger next year.

11/9/10

Gene and Carol made a great trip on another windy day.  Carole put the first two fish in the boat and was holding them up for the picture no mater what.

11/10/10

It's good to see somebody hooking up in the inlet.  Bob and Vicky came back into the ICW to find some willing customers

11/11/10

Broad Creek just before dark was this  stripers downfall

11/12/10

Bill Scull thought he might have broke the 30# mark, but was just a couple pounds off as the scale contests.

Chef Bill Fischer sent a couple of pictures of fish he caught this season proving once again that night time is the right time.

The El Salvador / USA combined Striper crew with a good days catch

11/9/10

Carole missed last years trip so she made sure to catch the first one this year, a 34" fish that is bound to test her cooking skills. This fish was her second about 30"

Gene caught the big fish of the day that pushed the 17 pound mark.

Brian's fish came up a little short to take home but still a great fight

11/6/10

Mike Mangan fished the Broad Creek area as well with clams and caught up to 23.5 pounds.

11/7/10

Rich Coffin braved the wind and put the first fish in the boat .  Miguel caught his first striper ever.

Chino had some problems hooking up but finally got a short for practice and one for the box.

Miguel got the big one of the day with a 19 pound beauty

11/6/10

A great catch with the lunker pushing 10 pounds

11/1/10

The Usual Suspects Larry, Capt. dave, Dave and Jimmy, lined up for a mug shot with a good days catch.  Also released 4 that didn't quite measure up.

11/6/10

Chris kieker brought another crew out and even though the winds were relentless the fishing turned on

10/30/10

I've been fighting a long dry spell, but Denis came out with Larry Cappel and finally broke it with this cutie, I mean the fish.  A little short of a keeper, but a sign of better things to come.

Scott Newhall was the Captain on a snotty day in the Delaware Bay, but he managed the good bite for ex student Rob Jiacopello.  With no scale or ruler on board they were hoping this fish went the big five-0, but it pulled the scale about two pounds short.

11/1/10

Jimmy Hare was hot hand on this day that we braved a cold NW wind to beat across Great bay to the Mullica River.

Jimmy's fish weighed in at almost exactly 25 and 20 pounds and both ate spot .  Larry added a nice keeper from inside the Brigantine bridge.

Limit Catch Brian Lay, Pop and Capt. Dave

10/30/10

Stripers aren't the only thing out there that grows big.  This Sheepshead Jim DeAngel pulled out of the AC Inlet weighed in at 15.15 pounds and was a great fight as well as a great future dinner.

It only takes one bite to turn a slow day into a great one.  This 32.4 pounder by Mike Fontas shows that Eels are still a favorite food of the big mamas.  The Brigantine Bridge was her home.

Striper Johnny hooks up on the first drift in the back bay of Absecon and lands his first keeper

A Friday night Birthday party and two keepers can wear a boy out.  But it was a great day for a nap.

10/20/10

I even managed to get one on my new Shimano Tescata Rod, a strange but effective light action flexible power rod.

Larry does it again at Main Marsh

Jimmy does a double tap at Little Bay where he put the finishing touches on our full cooler.

When it was all over we put together 6 keepers and 8 more fighters that just didn't measure up to the 28" mark

10/19/10
Chris Gaines shows off why it still is a good idea to get out at night and fish the eels.  These fish weighed in at 28.5# and 27.5#

10/19/10
Tony and his crew of tog murderers show off a limit of fatties in the 5 pound class

10/20/10

Dave broke the ice before dawn at the bridge with what turned out to be the biggest fish of the day

Larry scores at Meadow Cut

Jimmy's first fish was too short for the box, but a great battler none the less.

10/13/10
Carl Wilson had a hand full with these too beauties.  He fishes out of Motts Creek, but getting an exact spot is almost impossible.  But all these fish came from somewhere between Sweetwater and the LE Bell.

10/14/10
Bob Dunn's fish weighed 25.5 and Frank Mahoney backed him up with a 22 pounder.  There were still two more nice keepers in the cooler.

10/17/10

Mike Piperato spent a day on the awater with Mom and Dad on the Fishical Therapy and showed them how to hook up near the inlet.

10/18/10

Steve Groshardt and Mike Vegis joined me for  the first charter of the season.  We got an early start and Mike hooked before sunrise.

They took home their limit caught in the Way Back channels behind Little Beach.  The top fish pushed 17# and there were 7 shorts released.  It looks like a great year has begun!

It's hard to get pictures of a one handed fishing trip,

This one on 10/8/10 was supposed to be a bait trip but some activity on a sod bank turned it into the years first striper trip.  You can see by the look on Truffle's face and tongue what plans he has for that bass.

But it didn't make the grade as was the case with all 14 that fell for the ...

Gulp 6" Chartreuse Grub that caught them all.  For those who say Gulp is too expensive....

I say it's PRICELESS !

10/17/10

After a blow out Saturday, Sean Fox jumped out and caught a bunch including this one for dinner.  He fishes too much so if you have a job give him a call and get him out of the bay

10/12/2010

Bill Ellis ran in just before closing time to put this big girl on the scale.  A die hard clam chunker who spent a beautiful afternoon at Little Egg inlet and managed his limit of great fish.  If you can't read the scale the big one weighed 28.5#.  He'll be back today to try and break the 30# mark.

10/6/10
Bill Lake caught his first legal bass of the season, but had such visions of crispy filets on his dinner plate he had the fish cleaned before I could document the event with a picture.

10/10/2010

I had to meet Bill Lake at the boat to get him to hold this 30" Spot caught fish for the camera.

10/7/10

! It's Official !
Robert Switzer weighed in this  13.5# striper for the Atlantic County Surf Derby and took time to pose for this picture

10/11/2010

Mike Mangan is showing off a tog that fell just short of 6 pounds which was hiding near the inlet.  Just goes to show that Stripers aren't the only game in town.
