Dear Potential Sponsor or Partner for 2008
I haven't always sold bait and tackle, it just seems like it. Since I started Absecon Bay Sportsman Center in 1985 I have seen many changes in the Southern New Jersey recreational fishing. During this time period the striped bass become the driving force in recreational fishing not only in Southern New Jersey , but most of the Atlantic Coast. I've always enjoyed tournament fishing, but being tied to a tackle shop doesn't allow me to participate in many. However, I have always been interested in fishing tournaments as a great promotional technique to encourage angler enthusiasm and participation in this great sport.
I have done a lot of studying how local tournaments have been run and looked at successes and failures. Six years ago I took this knowledge and started a rather unique striped bass tournament. I gave this tournament the name of “Striper Fishermen Do it All Night” in order to take advantage of the nocturnal nature of the striped bass and give all fishermen a chance to participate. This tournament is not part of some grand scheme to save the world or cure some deadly disease, but to get a lot of fishermen out on the water and have fun and to give my partners a chance to demonstrate their products to them.
This tournament has grown over time and last year I had 158 paid angler entries. These are some of the areas most avid anglers with many coming from long distances. Having all these avid experienced anglers together in one place makes this a great chance to showcase your products or services to them.
I am writing this letter to invite you to participate in this years tournament as a partner and a sponsor to promote your services or products. I am hoping you will have products or promotional items of interest to anglers which you could provide as prizes to increase the participation in the tournament. If you have been a partner in the past I would like to thank you once again and would very much appreciate your participation this year. If you make any kind of donation it will be viewed by all competing anglers and all those who will show an interest in the tournament thru my store and the web site.
I am not simply asking for donations, but will be offering the following valuable incentive:
Every participating partner will have their logo with link to web site posted on all web pages and any printed information.
A prize page will list any and all prizes and who provided them along with a link to their web site..
Before and during the tournament I will prominently post any banners or decals you can provide on my property.
I will also make available any brochures or printed mater you send with the prizes.
I also invite any sponsor to send a representative to help promote your products during Friday registration or Saturday's weigh in.
In the past there have been major donations of $2,000 by Sea Tow Atlantic City, Many rods and reels, lures but even hook samples and logo clothing are all appreciated and all get full recognition.
I would like to invite you to take a moment to see all the details of this tournament on my web site www.abseconbay.com by following the links. The direct link to the 2008 tournament is here "Striper Fishermen Do It All Night" If you follow the links to past tournaments you will see the prize donors and past winners which are always there as a reminder. This tournament will not be forgotten after the weigh in as are most.
Please note that the tournament will be open to any anglers and teams including semi-professional product demonstration teams so you are invited to send entries as well. You might as well win back some of the prizes.
Sincerely,
Capt. David Showell, owner
